The Texas Agency Network (Tex-AN) is the state’s infrastructure for communications technology services, including both networks and equipment. The Tex-AN delivers 5,700 broadband circuits to over 700 cities, municipalities, state agencies, schools, universities, and assistance organizations across Texas. All state agencies are required to use Tex-AN contracts to meet their communications technology needs, and in addition many cities, counties, and many other eligible organizations use these contracts as well to take advantage of the highly competitive prices and efficient delivery system.
SKYFIBER will be the first Optical Wireless Broadband (OWB) provider in Tex-AN’s portfolio. OWB is an innovative technology that uses infrared light to provide over 1 Gbps of Broadband connectivity at a very low cost. OWB is highly secure, compact, and easily deployable, and takes less than a day to install. Optical Wireless Broadband is ideal for relieving mobility backhaul bottlenecks, connecting business campuses, and a host of other key applications, making it a valuable addition to DIR’s Tex-AN Next Generation portfolio. |
