SKYFIBER Announces Board Member Gerardo Gonzalez as new President and CEO
SKYFIBER, an Optical Wireless Broadband company, has announced board member Gerardo Gonzalez as the company’s new President & CEO, effective December 13, 2011.

December 27, 2011 Dallas, Texas - SKYFIBER, a global leader in Optical Wireless Broadband technology, has announced the appointment of Gerardo Gonzalez to President and CEO, who brings over four decades of proven telecommunications leadership to the company.

"This is a very exciting time in SKYFIBER’s corporate history as the Optical Wireless Broadband and Free Space Optics technologies are really starting to hit their stride,” said Mr. Gonzalez. “With is rich patent portfolio and superior technology, SKYFIBER’s products are strongly differentiated from its competitors. This corporation is filled with talented and innovative people, and I am very honored to serve as SKYFIBER’s CEO."

For the last 40 years, Gerardo Gonzalez has been deeply involved all aspects of the global Telecommunications industry including regulation, design, operations, manufacturing, consulting, marketing, and sales. A native of Mexico City, he has an in-depth knowledge of Carrier Telecommunications business through his decades of experience, which has included several CEO and top-leadership positions in telecom greats such as Movitel Cellular, Telecosmo (first Internet wireless service provider in Mexico), Skytel (Mexico’s largest paging company), Radiocel (Mexico’s largest late-90s analog trunking company), and Damovo, a systems integrator of critical private and government voice and data systems for Nortel & Ericsson. Additionally Mr. Gonzalez served as Nortel’s Director of Mexico Operations in the late 80’s, pioneering the 1988 sale of the first Cellular System in Mexico City (Iusacell), and as Commissioner at the Mexican Telecommunications Regulatory entity Cofetel.

Considered to be the “evolution of Free Space Optics”, OWB is highly secure, compact, and easily deployable, and takes less than a day to install. Optical Wireless Broadband is ideal for relieving mobility backhaul bottlenecks, connecting business campuses, as a network growth accelerator in existing fiber-optic and microwave networks, to provide last-mile fiber extension applications, and a host of other key applications.
